I got a Traditional Chinese Medicine Organ Clock app recently and it made me interested in this subject. So here is the meridian flow and suggested schedule for 24 hour period.
CHOU 1-3am and YIN 3-5am. People should be in deep sleep.
The liver meridian is on duty at Chou to dispel toxins and produce fresh new blood. The lung meridian is on duty at Yin to distribute the energy and blood, produced by the liver, to the organs. Both are best accomplished when people are fast asleep. Chou is when detoxification of the gall happens. Yin is detoxification of the lungs.
People who suffer insomnia. To help soothe nerves during this time, sit in bed with warm clothes over shoulders, rub hands together to warm. Rub the nose and cover nose and eyes with palms, then rub ears and cover ears with palms, tap the back of head with middle fingers then stretch arms wide. Swallow three times imagining the saliva flowing down to the navel.
MAO 5-7am. Get up, use toilet.
The lung meridian finishes distributing energy and blood to the organs. The large intestine takes over. Detoxification of the colon. That means one should get up and use the bowels at this time. Drink water upon waking. Sit in the light and drink warm water, brush hair, and wash.
CHEN 7-9am. Breakfast.
The stomach meridian is active. Eat a warm, light breakfast (before 7:30 for greatest benefit). The spleen meridian will use the food to produce yang energy, rather than storing it as fat.
SI 9-11am. Activity.
Blood and energy flow to the spleen to support metabolism, converting nutrients and sending them to muscles. These two hours are prime time for working.
WU 11am-1pm. Lunchtime.
The spleen and kidney meridians are active. Take a high nutrient, warm and filling (high fiber) moderate lunch. Then walk, drink a little tea, and have a half hour nap.
WEI 1-3pm. Work.
The small intestine meridian separates and distributes the digested nutrients from lunch.
SHEN 3-5pm. Work and study. Drink afternoon tea.
The two bladder meridians go to work. One meridian on each side of the spine run from the foot to the head, flowing blood and energy actively up to the brain. The bladder meridian is a major toxin expelling channel, handling toxins expelled from other meridians. Drinking extra water promotes detoxification as toxins are expelled through urine.
YOU 5-7pm. Dinner.
The kidneys start to store essence. Have a light dinner. A little wine is good to activate blood circulation. Talk with family and friends.
WU 7-9pm. Read.
The pericardium is the fluid-filled sac that surrounds the heart and the roots of major blood vessels. The pericardium meridian dispels all the energy around the heart to protect it. Its advisable to soak the feet in hot water and massage the arch of each foot.
HAI 9-11pm and ZI 11pm-1am. Go to bed.
Stay indoors from Hai to Zi. Hai is the best time for a kiss and cuddle, when yin and yang are in balance in the universe. Feed the body with joy. Listen to music. Cuddling at this time leaves enough time for sound sleep. Detoxification of the lymph nodes happens at this time.
Zi is the darkest hour, when strong yin energy starts to fade, and yang energy begins to grow. Sufficient yang energy is crucial for daytime activity, so it should be well-stored at the right time. Since sleep is the best way to store yang energy, it is best to sleep at Zi, which means you should go to bed at Hai. In Zi you should be fast asleep. This is when bone marrow produces blood and detoxification of the liver takes place.
