I'm coming with my own diy recipes that I have to experiment with and try out.

Here is my potential tooth powder recipe for humans and dogs:

(freeze dried strawberries ground into power, leaving in the seeds) -not for dog
dried kelp ground into powder
tumeric powder
helichrysiam hydrosol
collodial silver drops
(myrhh??)-not sure for dog
oregano oil
ground up eggshell powder after baked in 400F oven for 15-20 minutes
bee propolis
coconut oil
aloe vera
calendula
homeopathy calcarea phosphorica 6X
homeopathy calcarea fluorica 6X

perhaps add a bit of coconut oil to make a paste then brush with a toothbrush.

A short history of toothpaste

Did you know that the oldest known toothpaste recipe was found on an egiptyan papirus written in the fourth century AD? For perfectly clean teeh you needed:

• 1 drachma of rock salt (1 drachma = 1/100 ounce)
• 2 drachmas of mint,
• 1 drachma of dried iris flower and
• 20 grains of pepper,

You might want to grind the salt and the pepper before using this recipe or else your gums will bleed. A good amount of saliva is required, otherwise use a little water. While we don't know what the Egyptians were using for a toothbrush, I think you might try a piece of cloth for the sake of preserving the historical feeling.

The ancient Greeks and Romans liked their toothpowder more abrasive and brushed their teeth with substances which contained crushed bones and shells.

PetzLife Oral spray, gel or treats (not sure)
Ingredients: Here is the full list of ingredients: Grapefruit seed extract, Grape seed extract, Thyme oil, Neem oil and Peppermint oil. These are all specially formulated with distilled water and 25% grain alcohol (ethyl) to produce one of the most effective and safest dental products ever produced.


Natural Wonder Pets Oral spray
Ingredients:
organically grown grapefruit seed extract -battles bacteria, destroys plaque, undercuts tartar
grape seed extract
propalis extract -antimicrobial prevents formation of dental plaque
stevia
(xantham gum for gel)


Only one brand of organic grapefruit seed extract is supposed to be not toxic, the brand Citracidal.
Seed-A-Dent. Citracidal is combined with extracts of plantain, white oak bark, hamamelis (witchhazel), and calendula (pictured left) in a glycerine base. It is used by applying to the toothbrush along with toothpaste; it can also be diluted in water for use as a mouth wash. The bottle contains 1 fluid ounce.


Herbal Mint Toothpaste Recipe
Ingredients:

1/4 tsp peppermint oil
1/4 tsp spearmint
1/4 cup arrowroot
1/4 cup powdered orrisroot
1/4 cup water
1 tsp ground sage

Directions:

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add water until paste is desired thickness/consistency. Store at room temperature in a tightly covered jar.

Substitute 1/2 tsp each of oil of cinnamon and oil of cloves for peppermint/spearmint if desired.

Lemon and Cloves Herbal Tooth Cleanser

Ingredients:

Small amount of finely powdered sage
1 ounce of finely powdered myrrh
1 pound powdered arrow root
3 ounces powdered orris root
15 drops oil of lemon
8 drops oil of cloves
10 drops oil of bergamot
10 drops of coconut oil (you may have to warm slightly to melt)

Directions:

Mix the powdered ingredients first and then add and mix the oils into the mixture.

Notes:

Supercharge any of the above recipes by adding tea tree oil or plant derived mineral powder (or both).

When you use items which contain lemon, rinse your mouth and teeth thoroughly afterward to prevent damage to teeth enamel.
